La Mercè returns with one of the most anticipated and futuristic shows of the festival: drones illuminating the sky of Barcelona. This 2025 will be the third edition of this proposal that has already become essential, and this year is presented under the name Onírica.
The show, created by Flock Drone Art, will deploy 500 drones flying over the Barcelona coastline in a choreography of lights and music that will draw in the sky figures inspired by the city, its traditions and its collective imagination.
What will Onírica be like?
“Onírica” invites us to look at the sky and dream. Through lights and figures dancing to the rhythm of the music, the 500 drones will transform the coastline into a living canvas that connects past, present and future of Barcelona. An innovative show that has established itself as a magical and sustainable alternative to fireworks.
When is the drone show of La Mercè 2025?
This year, unlike 2024, there will be a single performance: it will be on Friday, September 26 at 22h. and will last 15 minutes.
Where to see the drones of La Mercè?
The stage of the show will be the espigon del Gas, on the beach of Somorrostro, next to the Hospital del Mar. It is one of the best spots to enjoy the show with good visibility, although it can also be seen from other nearby beaches such as Barceloneta, Sant Miquel or Sant Sebastià, which every year are filled with locals and visitors to experience the show from the sand.
Before and after: the fireworks and the Piromusical
The drone show will take over from the XXVI Festival Pirotècnic Internacional de Barcelona, which will take place on September 23 and 24 at 10 pm, also in the espigón del Gas.
And, as every year, the grand finale will come on Sunday September 28 with the Piromusical de la Mercè, which in this edition will have as its main theme a soundtrack chosen by Estopa on the avenue of Queen Maria Cristina.
