The Vila de Gràcia is getting ready to live this August a new edition of its emblematic Festa Major de Gràcia 2025, the most popular and expected popular celebration of all the neighborhoods of Barcelona. From August 15 to 21, the streets of this iconic neighborhood will once again be transformed with spectacular decorations, live music, concerts and activities for the whole family, consolidating one of the most beloved and authentic traditions of the city.
In this edition, the Festes de Gràcia 2025 put special emphasis on neighborhood coexistence and social inclusion, focusing on the participation of vulnerable groups. The Festa Major Foundation together with the District of Gràcia have designed new measures to recover the community character of the festival, reduce crowds and minimize inconvenience, while expanding the spaces and activities adapted for people with special sensitivities and needs.
By the way, if you want to know, apart from the festivities of Gracia, when are all the major festivals of the city, see our article where we tell you about all of them.
We tell you everything you need to know, from the town crier to the latest news of the Festa Major.
When is the Festa Major de Gràcia 2025?
The long-awaited Festa Major de Gràcia 2025 will be held from August 15 to 21, with a week full of music, street art, activities for all ages and the traditional decorated streets contest that turns the neighborhood into a unique visual spectacle in Barcelona.
On August 18 will be the Nit Tranquila, the night without noise that was introduced last year, and on August 19 will be the awards ceremony for the winning street.
Inaugural Proclamation
The inaugural proclamation will take place on August 14 and will be delivered by art historian Maria Garganté, who will share her vision of the history and identity of Gràcia from the district’s balcony in Plaça de la Vila. This event will mark the official start of the celebrations and will give way to a week full of activities for all audiences.
The Festa Major poster
The poster of the Festa Major de Gràcia 2025 is the work of Manuela Serrat Crehuet, illustrator from Maresme and winner of the 32nd poster contest. After being a finalist in 2024, this year she has won the prize thanks to an image full of vitality and color.
The illustration conveys the energy and diversity of Gràcia with characters such as devils, musicians, families and the iconic Torradet and Gresca. Each figure represents small stories that together capture the festive and community spirit of the neighborhood.
Decorated streets and guarnits de Festa Major
Of course, one of the main attractions of the Festa Major de Gràcia are its decorated streets and guarnits. As every year, the streets will compete to see who has the best costume.
However, to avoid crowds, the prize-giving date has been moved to August 19, during the week and two days before the end of the festivities, to avoid crowding the winning streets.
From the Bergatron of Berga street, inspired by the movie Tron, to the camping that will be set up in the Plaça del Nord or the Mayan jungle of Verdi street, the costumes promise as much as every year.
We tell you in our article all the decorated streets of the neighborhood and the themes of each one.
Fire in the decoration of Verdi Street
The decoration of Verdi Street suffered a fire in the early hours of Sunday, August 17, which caused the entire decoration to be destroyed. The reasons for the fire are under investigation, but it is suspected that it may have been arson.
Members of other commissions have turned out in support of the street, and have brought different elements that have allowed the construction of a solidarity “decoration” that remains, sadly, as a reminder of the fire.
In addition, several streets have covered their decorations in solidarity with the affected street.
Which was the winning street for the best decoration of the Fiestas de Gràcia 2025?
In a year marked by the fire of the decoration of Verdi del Mig street, the decoration contest was won by Progrés street for its Progrefoc decoration, a tribute to the festive culture of fire in Gràcia. We tell you the second and third classified and the prizes awarded in our article.

Quiet night and inclusive activities
Since last year, the Fiestas de Gracia have a “Quiet Night” to lower the volume of the party and facilitate coexistence and return the celebration to the neighbors, after several years in which the massive influx has denatured the local spirit of the festa major.
It will be on August 18, during which no concerts or activities with amplified music will be held. This measure seeks to improve coexistence with neighbors who do not participate in night activities and reduce the influx of people in this time slot.
As last year, the Festa Major de Gràcia 2025 is committed to an inclusive program that guarantees the participation of all people. Spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility are enabled in the main events such as the opening speech, the cercavila, the awards ceremony and the castellera day, recommending to arrive in advance to ensure a place.
In addition, there are audio and speech systems for the visually impaired, and services such as motxilles vibratòries and magnetic rings for the hearing impaired.
Inclusive activities include concerts with sign language interpretation, oral storytelling shows with visual support and dance workshops for people with functional diversity. There are also audio-described guided tours and tours adapted for people with deafness, with prior registration. These initiatives reflect the festival’s commitment to accessibility and coexistence, seeking that tradition and popular culture can be enjoyed by all without barriers.
