When looking for a weekend getaway from Barcelona there are few options more suitable than Campevànol: just a hundred kilometers from Barcelona, an hour and a half by car and with an excursion full of natural pools to escape the heat.
Surrounded by forests, pools and mountains, this small town of Ripollès, in the heart of the Pre-Pyrenees, with just over 3,000 inhabitants, is a perfect getaway because it brings together everything you need: nature and water, but also history and culture.
What to see in Campdevànol
Visitors to the municipality can visit heritage sites such as the Centre Pyrfer del Ferro i de l’Aigua, stroll among sculptures in the middle of nature on the road to Gombrèn, or discover that this is the only municipality in Spain included in the European Circle of Metal Cities.
Also the Romanesque hermitages in the surrounding area: at the top of Mount Sant Grau, almost a thousand meters high, there is a hermitage with views that will make you understand why this corner is one of the best kept secrets of the Pre-Pyrenees.
But the most impressive part of the walk comes with the Ruta dels 7 Gorgs, a 9-kilometer circuit that takes you through seven spectacular pools and waterfalls that seem to come out of a fantasy set. The route, which follows the Torrent de la Cabana, is so popular that in high season it requires advance booking.
Once inside the village, we can visit the art gallery dedicated to the painter Josep Coll i Bardolet, a church with a 46-meter bell tower, and even an old mountain school that is preserved as a testimony of the past.
