It was the year 2001. And for one day, 19 artists (including Manta Ray, Los Planetas, Carl Craig, and Sr. Chinarro) filled the Plaza Mayor at Poble Espanyol to celebrate a music event: Primavera Sound. The party ended on a high note as the sun rose while Armand Van Helden spun tracks relentlessly. Twenty-five years later, Primavera Sound features 151 artists, three full days of the festival at the Parc del Fòrum, and a closing event with its own name: Primavera Bits will be held on Sunday, June 6, and tickets are already on sale (heads up—the early bird tickets are already flying off the shelves!).
Primavera Bits embodies the festival’s closing spirit but spans an entire day overlooking the Mediterranean: the final collective catharsis and the celebration of a quarter-century. The headliners in charge of getting the dance floor pumping will be Richie Hawtin, Four Tet, and Dixon. Eight hours of nonstop dancing.
