The Government of Catalonia will relaunch a financial aid program in 2026 designed to help qualified young people prepare for the competitive exams to enter the senior level of general administration (A1).
These scholarships amount to 500 euros per month and have a maximum duration of 12 months, or until the date on which the final exams of the competitive examination phase are held.
The initiative responds to the high number of retirements expected in the Catalan administration in the coming years, which threatens the continuity of public services. Therefore, the goal is to ensure generational succession by bringing in young professionals with new skills.
Who is eligible to apply for this €500 grant?
The program is aimed at individuals under the age of 30 who are citizens of Spain or a member state of the European Union —or their spouses or descendants, under the terms set forth in the regulations—who meet a series of academic and financial requirements.
Among the required conditions are holding the degree required for entry into the senior civil service and providing proof of an academic record with a minimum grade point average of 7 out of 10.
It is also essential to hold a certificate of proficiency in the Catalan language at the C1 level or equivalent, and not to be engaged in paid work exceeding 20 hours per week.
Those who are currently receiving similar scholarships or grants from any public administration or private company, or who have received them for more than three years in previous calls for applications, are excluded.
Applications will be processed online through the Trámites gencat portal once the new 2026 guidelines are approved; the Catalan government has announced that it will launch them “soon.”
