The Catalan cultural heritage will celebrate this weekend, from 10 to 12 October, the European Heritage Days (EHD) with an offer of nearly 500 activities completely free (see program and registration) in 202 municipalities in the territory.
A total of 300 facilities and entities, including museums, monuments and sites, will participate in what is considered the biggest celebration of cultural heritage on the European continent.
The initiative, promoted by the Department of Culture of the Generalitat, offers citizens the opportunity to enjoy guided and dramatized tours, workshops, lectures and concerts for free.
From delving into the subway architecture of the Basilica of Santa Maria de la Seu de Manresa, discovering the secrets of the Gaudí Crypt of the Colònia Güell in Santa Coloma de Cervelló, or learning about Roman architecture at the MAC Empúries in L’Escala. These will be some of the activities scheduled during these 3 days.
Also, the Generalitat de Catalunya will offer free admission to all its monuments during the days, an opportunity to visit the recently restored cloisters of the Royal Monastery of Santes Creus and the Escornalbou Castle Monastery.
All the activities and participating museums can be consulted on the official website of this initiative, from the <shortcode data-tag=”trackLink” 0=”link_url=””https://patrimoni.gencat.cat/jep2025″”>following link</shortcode>.

European Heritage Days activities

<shortcode data-tag=”caption” id=”attachment_138730″ align=”alignnone” width=”1200″><img class=”size-full wp-image-138730″ src=”https://offloadmedia.feverup.com/barcelonasecreta.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/09110237/Portada-5.jpg” alt=”” width=”1200″ height=”800″ /> Photo: Govern.cat</shortcode>

These are some of the nearly 500 free activities (491 in total) scheduled from October 10 to 12, centered on this year’s theme: “Architectural heritage: windows to the past, doors to the future”.

Alt Pirineu i Aran

Arròs (Val d’Aran): Visit to the Arxiu Generau d’Aran to get to know the stately complex of the Casa deth Senhor, the historic building that currently houses the archive, discovering its architecture and history.

La Vall de Boí: An explanation will be offered on how the restoration of a Romanesque church is approached, taking as a concrete example the work carried out in the church of Sant Joan de Boí, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Llívia: Dramatized visit in the Esteva Pharmacy, one of the oldest pharmacies in Europe, to immerse yourself in its history and the evolution of the trade through a representation.

Lleida

Lleida (city): Guided tour of recent archaeological discoveries, which will allow you to visit the ancient tanneries (adoberies), a recovered section of the medieval wall and, inside, a waterwheel (sínia) from the Andalusian period.

Torrebeses: Family walk designed to learn to identify the main architectural features of the round arches, a traditional construction element of the area.

Alcarràs: Guided night route through the town’s heritage, offering a different perspective of its streets and historic buildings under the light of night.

Catalunya Central

Manresa: Unique opportunity to enter the subway architecture of the Basilica of Santa Maria de la Seu, accessing spaces normally closed to the public such as the necropolis and the sepulchral vessels.

Vic: Practical stained glass construction workshop, where participants can learn and experience the techniques of this decorative art so present in religious architecture.

Cardona: Guided walk through the historic suburb of Graells, which includes a tour of its gateway, the wall, the roof of one of the medieval towers and a final visit to the Casal de la Graells.

Girona

L’Escala (Empúries): Tour of the Roman city of Empúries site focusing on Roman architecture.
