Did you know that in Barcelona there is a bar where the entire service is managed by robotic arms? At El Prat airport there is the first restaurant where human intervention is almost non-existent, and everything is managed by a robot system equipped with artificial intelligence.
The restaurant is called Self, and is located in Terminal 1 of the Barcelona airport, in Departures. The order is placed from one of several digital kiosks located in front of the bar. Once payment has been completed, all that remains is to wait for the robot to manage our order and find the drink or food we have requested.
The restaurant is equipped with shelves where drinks and dishes are organized, which the robot will then pick up with its arms, equipped with a claw and 5 tactile fingers.
In addition, the concept of artificial intelligence is incorporated into the machine in two ways: one, decision making based on the queue of orders, to establish the most optimal order; the second, a vision that allows it to detect any problems and correctly identify the product to be delivered.
The accompanying human staff is in charge of supervising its activity and guiding customers before placing their order.
