Swim among tuna weighing over 600 kilos
Swimming with dolphins, tropical fish, and even sharks… these are eye-catching, fun, and very photogenic activities, but ones we’re increasingly used to seeing on social media. But in L’Ametlla de Mar, you have the chance to swim surrounded by a species that’s even more impressive and awe-inspiring than any other: the wild bluefin tuna.
Huge fish that can measure more than 3.5 meters long and weigh over 600 kilos. In L’Ametlla de Mar, you can swim surrounded by an entire school of these creatures right in the middle of the Mediterranean. The activity is known as the Tuna Tour, and you can enjoy it starting at 45 €, depending on how long you want to stay and, above all, how deep you want to dive.
Of course, you can also enjoy this delicacy in another way: by sampling Balfegó bluefin tuna, one of the most gourmet products on the entire Mediterranean coast and a specialty at many of the town’s restaurants, such as El Molí dels Avis.
