Manel is one of the great Catalan bands of its generation. Since their 2008 debut with *Els millors professors europeus*, they have continued to rack up hits, impress Pep Guardiola himself, and turn every release into an event. Everything changed in 2023, when the group announced a hiatus (not a breakup), a period that its members have used to work on other projects. This is the case for the band’s drummer, Arnau Vallvé, who, after composing soundtracks and collaborating with other artists on the Catalan scene, will present his first solo LP on April 2 at La [2] de Apolo. Tickets for the concert are now on sale.

MENTRE EL MONSTRE, Arnau Vallvé’s newly released single
What do we know about Vallvé’s debut album? Well, how his first single sounds—the one he just released, MENTRE EL MONSTRE. It’s an electronic pop track that strays from Manel’s more typical sound (not surprisingly, since Vallvé has only written two of the band’s songs), though it gives us a glimpse of much more to come.
The fact is, the musician has been working nonstop since 2019 (the year Manel released their last album), composing songs for films and theatrical productions as well as producing other Catalan artists such as Boye, La Ludwig Band, Lildami, Triquell, and Ven’nus.
In short, from Arnau Vallvé’s debut album, set for release in early 2027, we can expect anything but monotony. It’s clear that the artist doesn’t know how to sit still and that he likes to experiment, so we shouldn’t be surprised if this album is full of new and old sounds and, surely, contains nods to the band that brought him recognition, the legendary Manel.
