Carlos Fontclara and Joel Ruiz are two entrepreneurs from Barcelona who have created a smartphone without distractions, basic, to combat addiction to mobile and social networks. The “Balance Phone”, a new smartphone specifically designed to irreversibly block access to social networks, video games, streaming platforms and gambling sites.
The device, which features a proprietary operating system called Balance OS based on Android, allows only the use of applications considered essential such as instant messaging services, GPS navigation, banking applications, transportation, music and productivity tools.

Those who use it here will not find TikTok, Instagram or Netflix. Its interface, with a menu based on white letters on a black background, is as minimalist as possible and avoids invasive colors and notifications.
According to data distributed by the company, users of this phone spend an average of one hour a day in front of the screen, compared to the usual three or four hours on conventional smartphones.
