Every time Tame Impala performs in Barcelona, Kevin Parker has an unmissable stop before taking the stage: La Plata bar, a classic in the Ciutat Vella neighborhood with over eight decades of history and tapas starting at 3.50 euros.
Fried fish and anchovies are the star dishes that have won over the frontman of the Australian band, who has been returning since 2019 with a loyalty that has become a tradition in its own right.
In 2019, 2022, 2025, and again in 2026, Parker and his band have found time in their packed concert schedule—which this year brought them to Sant Jordi on April 8 after their stop in Madrid on the 7th—to enjoy tapas, vermouth, and a great atmosphere at La Plata just a few hours before each concert.
On his last visit, the two-time Grammy winner went a step further and surprised the venue with a bag of gifts from the band’s new album, Deadbeat, as well as dedicating the tour poster with the message: “La Plata, we love you.”
The devotion of a band of Tame Impala’s stature to this corner of Ciutat Vella has only reinforced its reputation as one of the city’s most authentic bars.
With five studio albums (Innerspeaker, Lonerism, Currents, The Slow Rush, and Deadbeat), Tame Impala has established itself as a benchmark in indie alternative music, becoming one of the most recognizable names in 21st-century indie and psychedelic rock.
