On May 9 and 10, the town of Cabrera de Mar will host a new edition of the Festa de les Bruixes. This festival, inspired by local legends about nocturnal deities and the stone pines of Montcabrer, will transform the town’s streets into a medieval setting. The program ranges from adrenaline-pumping experiences to historical tours and educational workshops, offering a wide variety of activities with both free options and paid activities available by prior reservation.
An experience blending history and fantasy
The centerpiece of the celebration will be the Medieval and Esoteric Market, which will be set up in the town’s streets over both days. This space will be complemented by the Witches’ Camp and an Exhibition of Inquisition Torture Instruments, both located in Cal Conde and free to visit. For children, the Cal Conde Gardens will host period attractions.
One of the biggest attractions of this year’s event is the Haunted Zip Line, set up in the Can Rodon parking lot, which will allow attendees to soar over the town. Additionally , food will have its own space in the Plaza de la Fábrica, with the highlight being the Community Pork Dinner scheduled for Saturday night.
Guided tours and folk culture
Promoting local heritage is a key focus of the program. Tours of the parish bell tower, walks through the historic center, and the popular dramatized tours titled “The Secrets of the Castle” have been organized, exploring the town’s connection to its past.
Saturday’s program will conclude with a distinctly traditional character. Starting at 7:00 p.m., the Town Hall Square will host the Plantada de Bestias, followed by a “Tabalada,” the invocation of the witches, and a final gathering of fire beasts at midnight.
Workshops for families
The fair has designed an extensive schedule of hands-on and creative workshops organized by age group:
- Children (ages 4–6): Making silhouette postcards, creating potions, and designing banners.
- Children (ages 7–10): Amulet-making and medieval adventure games.
- Families: Model-building of Burriac Castle and dreamcatcher workshops.
Since many activities have limited capacity, the organizers recommend reserving a spot or purchasing tickets in advance through official channels. While most street performances, storytelling sessions, and fairs are free, guided tours and workshops range in price from €2 to €8.
