Since June 24, when two earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale severely affected several areas of Venezuela, the international effort to send humanitarian aid to the affected areas has been ongoing. Barcelona is contributing its own musical grain of sand to this unceasing flow of aid: a benefit concert in Barcelona aimed at supporting the victims of the disaster.
The event is organized by the Fever platform, which has announced a special edition of its renowned Candlelight concerts, with the net proceeds going directly to NGOs already operating in the affected areas. The event will take place on July 30 at the Church of the Sacred Heart, with thousands of candles illuminating every corner
The performance by Musical Sensus and the NGOs that will receive the proceeds
The evening’s music will be provided by the Sensus Musical Ensemble, whose performers will participate in the concert pro bono. Their performance will fill the Church of the Sacred Heart with light and live music for a day, transforming every note into another form of aid that complements the donations and other humanitarian efforts.
To ensure this, Fever has made a legal commitment to make a subsequent corporate contribution equivalent to 100% of the concert’s net proceeds (defined as the ticket price minus applicable local taxes and payment processing fees) directly to local partner foundations.
A repertoire that blends Venezuelan folklore with hope
The musical program for this Candlelight charity concert has been designed to interweave Venezuela’s cultural identity with melodies that are recognized (and beloved) worldwide. These include “Venezuela” by Luis Silva and “Alma llanera” by Pedro Elías Gutiérrez, considered Venezuela’s second national anthem. But the program also features iconic songs of resilience such as “Viva la Vida” by Coldplay and “Stand By Me” by Ben E. King.
This concert is aimed both at the Venezuelan community seeking a space to connect with their roots from afar, and at any citizen interested in contributing to the humanitarian cause while attending a cultural event.
Barcelona is just one of the many cities where Fever has organized these charity concerts.
