If you’re looking for something different to do near the Catalan capital to round off January, the Osona region has an unmissable event in store. Centelles, 50 minutes from Barcelona, is putting the finishing touches to its most mysterious week of the year: the 28th Cau de Bruixes.
From January 26 to February 1, 2026, this town will celebrate its history and folklore under the famous popular saying: “De Centelles, bruixes totes elles”(From Centelles, witches all).
The municipality will revive the oral tradition that connects with the dark era of the 17th-century witch hunts, transforming that memory into an immersive festival that attracts thousands of visitors every year.
During the 17th century, civil and ecclesiastical authorities persecuted women accused of making pacts with the devil. Today, the festival pays tribute to them.
The main day of the celebration will be Saturday, January 31. For those traveling from Barcelona, the recommendation is to arrive early: from 10:00 a.m., the Mercat Màgic (Magic Market) will take over the streets of Passeig and Sagrera with craft stalls, tarot readings, and astrological charts.
One of the main attractions is the atmosphere: at nightfall, the streetlights in the center are turned off, and it is recommended to walk with caution to enjoy the themed decorations that fill every corner of the town.
To recharge your batteries, the Parc del Pla del Mestre will host the Espai Foc i Forquilla from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., a gastronomic area with food trucks, shows, and family activities.
Saturday’s program features the most visually powerful events, ideal for experiencing the intensity of Catalan fire culture. For those who want to extend the weekend, the Mercat Màgic will reopen its doors on the morning of Sunday, February 1.
