Paseo de Gracia, the most important commercial artery, or at least the most luxurious of Barcelona, has recovered this year the Christmas lights that premiered last year to decorate its streets this winter. According to its creators, “the lighting is still committed to spectacularity and design, with the aim of delighting visitors and residents”.
From November 24, the sky of Passeig de Gràcia is covered with giant stars and light falls, a new lighting with a renewed design and, according to its organizers, highly efficient from the energy point of view and that pays tribute to the star of the Sagrada Família.
The Associació del Passeig de Gràcia reports that the investment to install these lights has been 180,000 euros, 30,000 more than the previous illuminated, an increase in investment with which it seeks to “favor local commerce and, therefore, the benefit for all of Barcelona.
The schedule of the lights is:
- From Sunday to Thursday, the lights will be on from 5:30 pm to 10 pm.
- On Fridays and Saturdays, the lights will stay on a little longer: from 17:30 to 23 h.
- On November 24, the day of the lighting, from 6:30 p.m. to midnight.
- On December 31 and January 5, the lights are on from 5:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.
The lights of Passeig de Gràcia have too much…. success
Throughout December the lighting of Passeig de Gràcia has been a resounding success . Pedestrians approached the street during the red sections of the traffic lights to take pictures, and at rush hours this has involved risks to road traffic, to the point that the police have cordoned off the stretches of sidewalk that do not correspond to the zebra crossings to prevent pedestrians from jumping into the street where it does not belong.
The City Council asks for responsibility to enjoy the lights with care.
