The Phenomena Experience, one of Barcelona’s most iconic cinemas, has announced that it will close its doors on September 15. But don’t worry: it’s not goodbye, it’s just a parenthesis. The theater’s team has already confirmed that they will return in 2026 with a “new experience”, although for now they have not revealed what it will consist of.
The news was made public through a video on their Instagram profile that ended with a promising message: “The show will go on”.
A decade of cinema (and a European award).
The temporary closure comes at a very special time for Phenomena. Just a few days ago, the Associazione Nazionale Autori Cinematografici (ANAC) recognized it as the best cinema in Europe in 2025, highlighting its “strength and originality” and the cultural value of its programming.
The award comes on top of another key date: the theater’s tenth anniversary, celebrated last December. Since its inception, the Phenomena has offered a unique combination of contemporary releases and cult classics, giving audiences the pleasure of reliving cinema’s masterpieces on the big screen.
For the moment, there are no further details about what awaits us in 2026, but the promise is clear: the show will go on.
