On June 9, the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys will be the venue for one of the highlights of Pope Leo XIV’s visit to Barcelona. Starting at 8:00 p.m., the pontiff will lead a prayer vigil that will include an official address and a musical segment of great symbolic significance.
The event, coordinated by the local promoter The Project, aims to offer an experience that goes beyond the format of a conventional concert during the Pope’s stay of less than 48 hours in the city.
A collaboration with a history
The event’s musical program will feature a surprising headline act: Sabadell-born singer Sergio Dalma will perform alongside the Escolanía de Montserrat. Together, they will perform the Catalan song “Em dónes força. “ This collaboration revives the artistic bond that the singer and the boys’ choir originally forged in 2011, when they recorded this song for ‘La Marató de TV3.’
Pope Leo XIV’s visit to the Catalan capital will be brief but intense. He is scheduled to arrive at noon on June 9, with the major event at Montjuïc taking place that same afternoon. After completing his official schedule the following day, the pontiff will depart Barcelona early on June 11.
The show is being organized by the Barcelona-based company The Project, which has designed a production described as “more than a concert” to accompany the liturgical segment and the messages the Pope will deliver to attendees at the Olympic Park.
How to attend the event and see the Pope in person
Tickets for Pope Leo XVI’s vigil at the Olympic Stadium are free and are primarily managed through the official website “Alça la mirada.” Registration for the general public opens this Friday, May 8, in the morning, and seats will be assigned strictly on a first-come, first-served basis until capacity is reached. Each person may request a maximum of four invitations, which are required to enter the venue on Tuesday, June 9, as entry will not be permitted without a prior reservation.
In addition to the allocation for the general public, the organizers have reserved approximately half of the venue’s capacity for parish communities, religious organizations, and Christian associations, which will manage their tickets internally. It is important to note that access to the stadium will be strictly regulated: gates will open at 4:00 p.m. and close definitively at 7:00 p.m., one hour before the Pontiff’s arrival; therefore, attendees are advised to process their entry as soon as possible and arrive well in advance.
