This Easter the Barcelona metro will make a small stoppage. Specifically, on lines 1 and 2 there will be works, which will mean that some sections will have to be completed by bus.
TMB will carry out various improvement projects from Saturday 12 April until Monday 21 April, coinciding with Easter, on the section of line 2 between La Pau and Badalona Pompeu Fabra.
This interruption is focused on structural improvements to the track platforms at Artigues and Pep Ventura stations. The works have a budget of 1.7 million euros and will be carried out by TMB.
During the closure of the section, users will be able to opt for alternative routes within the metro network itself or use a special shuttle bus service provided by TMB, which will make stops at all the affected stations. The rest of line 2, from La Pau to Paral-lel, will operate normally.
During the weekend of April 12 and 13, the section of line 1 between Glòries and La Sagrera stations will also be out of service. This interruption will allow the installation of elevators at Clot station, as part of the accessibility improvement project financed with NextGenerationEU funds from the European Union’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience plan. The total budget for these works amounts to 7.1 million euros.
As in the case of L2, TMB will provide a shuttle bus service that will run along the same route as the affected section.
Shuttle bus timetable
TMB will enable a special bus service to cover the sections affected by the disruptions. On L2, this service will operate between Badalona Pompeu Fabra and La Pau, with stops at all intermediate stations and priority for people with reduced mobility.
The timetables for this service will be the same as those of the metro, with the last departure from Badalona Pompeu Fabra at 23:29 on weekdays, Sundays and public holidays, and at 1:29 on Friday nights and the eve of public holidays.
On L1, the special bus service will cover the section between Glòries and La Sagrera with the same stops as the metro. To guarantee the connection between the bus and the metro, on Sunday the last departure from Glòries will be at 00:33 and from La Sagrera at 00:18.
Transportation alternatives
Alternative routes
During periods of disruption, the metro network itself is presented as the main alternative for travel. In the case of L2, at La Pau station travelers will be able to connect with line 4 and, in Besòs, with the TRAM that reaches Sant Roc and Gorg, where it is also possible to connect with L10 Nord. In addition, the H10 bus line connects the area with La Pau.
For users of the L1, La Sagrera station offers connections with lines L5, L9 Nord and L10 Nord, while at Clot it is possible to connect with L2. There are also several regular bus lines operating in the affected areas, such as H10, V25, 33, 34, 62 and 192 in Clot, and H8, V27, V29, 62, 96, 126 and 191 in La Sagrera.
Keep all this in mind when making your Easter plans.
