The month of August in Barcelona brings with it that special atmosphere where the streets and balconies give way to the neighborhood’s imagination. In 2026, the Sants neighborhood will once again dress up to celebrate its highly anticipated Fiesta Mayor, transforming its usual streets into completely different worlds thanks to the hard work and dedication of its residents.
This year, a total of eleven streets and squares are participating in the traditional decoration contest that defines the essence of these festivities. From tributes to animated films and local history to social causes and journeys through time, the neighborhood committees have prepared a route full of visual surprises that invite you to get lost in the neighborhood.
All the themes, street by street
Variety reigns in this edition, with scenes that will take us from the heart of Paris to the mystery of the drawers in our own bedrooms. Here are the eleven displays that adorn the Sants neighborhood:
- Alcolea de Dalt: Motor sports enthusiasts will travel back in time with a recreation of the historic Montjuïc circuit.
- Alcolea de Baix: They’ve decided to pay tribute to that everyday mystery known as “the missing sock,” dedicating their space to that odd sock we all have lying around the house.
- Finland: The street is celebrating its 45th anniversary by turning into a “Crazy Laboratory,” filled with curious scientific elements.
- Galileu: They’re bringing glamour to the neighborhood with a Hollywood-inspired set, where visitors can walk along their very own Walk of Fame.
- Guadiana: It transforms into a magical bakery where there will be no shortage of chocolates, cakes, and giant croissants.
- Plaça de la Farga: With a focus on environmental stewardship, its decorations are inspired by the world of the movie *The Lorax*.
- Papin: They propose a historical journey back to the 1936 People’s Olympics in Berlin, setting the scene with posters and elements typical of that era.
- Sagunt: Under the ingenious slogan “Sagunt y punto,” they will base their entire visual universe on geometric figures that emerge from a single point.
- Valladolid: Invites passersby to explore the exotic landscapes of the historic Silk Road.
- Vallespir de Baix: They’re focusing on a message of advocacy, centering their decorations on supporting and defending a decent, high-quality public school.
- Vallespir de Dalt: We are transported directly to the streets of Paris through the eyes and the world of the movie *Ratatouille*.
