It’s not a mirage or a side effect of the heat wave: if this Tuesday, July 29th, you come across the DeLorean from Back to the Future in Barcelona, don’t worry, it’s real. The most famous car of science fiction cinema will visit some of the most iconic monuments of the city, such as the Sagrada Familia, Casa Batllo or the Arc de Triomf.
Although it won’t reach the mythical 88 miles per hour (141 km/h), you won’t need to travel back in time to relive the magic: just have your cell phone handy to take a selfie with its shiny body and its (almost) smoking tires.
How to see the Delorean in Barcelona?
The Delorean will not be standing still in the city, but it will travel through some of its most emblematic places such as the Sagrada Familia, so you will have to be attentive, cell phone in hand, to capture it. The action is part of a promotional campaign celebrating the 40th anniversary of the release of Back to the Future.
The mythical saga four decades, and to celebrate it comes to theaters a very special edition: for the first time will be projected in 4DX format, with moving seats and effects such as wind, fog and heat to immerse you (literally) in Hill Valley.
The big news? Christopher Lloyd, the actor who brought the unforgettable Doc Emmet Brown to life, will come to Spain for the first time to take part in a dedicated fan event on November 1 and 2 at the Filmax Gran Via 4DX Cinemas in L’Hospitalet.
The event, organized by Cines Filmax Gran Via, goes beyond the cinema: it includes photocalls, raffles, autograph signings with certificate of authenticity and the chance to see the real DeLorean, which will be parked in the Gran Via 2 shopping center. In case you don’t see it on the street (or it goes too fast and escapes you), you can take a picture with it there, whether you have a general admission ticket or the VIP package, which also includes a photo with the actor and his official signature.
Tickets are already on sale, so if you want to go back to the future in the future November, you know what you have to do.
