Keanu Reeves is famous for the John Wick and Matrix sagas and for being one of the nicest people on the face of the earth (it’s impossible to dislike him), but did you know that he also has a rock band with which he releases albums and goes on tour? It’s called Dogstar and next year it’s coming to Barcelona. Specifically by Paral-lel 62, where he will play on July 7, 2026, this being the only stop of the group in the state. Tickets for the concert have already gone on sale.
Although in the movies he usually gets all the attention with his leading roles, Reeves has a more discreet role in Dogstar: he is the bass player. The other band mates are Brett Domrose (vocals and guitar) and Robert Mailhouse (drums), musicians of his own class and longtime friends.
Three old friends who resumed their band of youth in pandemic.
The history of Dogstar goes back to the early 90’s, when Reeves and two friends put together this alternative rock and grunge band (the hottest thing at the time) as a form of entertainment. They did some gigs and even released a couple of albums, but the actor’s brilliant career and other professional commitments of the other members parked the project for almost 20 years… Until they decided to bring it back in Pandemic.
Reeves, Domrose and Mailhouse returned to the rehearsal room, first to hang out but very soon to start composing and create a more serious project. In 2023 they released their album Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees and began touring the US… and even Europe! and even Europe!
To everyone’s surprise, Keanu and his boys were one of the big surprises of Primavera Sound 2024, where Dogstar offered a powerful live performance that delighted the festival goers. And now, two years later, they repeat in Barcelona.
