This October, Barcelona will once again become the epicenter of gastronomy with the Foodie Black Week, the event that is already known as the Black Friday of gastronomy. After the success of previous editions in Barcelona and Madrid, the event returns with more strength than ever and a great novelty: this year it also extends to the metropolitan area to bring culinary diversity to more neighborhoods and towns.
The idea is simple: for a week, half a thousand bars and restaurants will offer discounts and promotions, turning the city into a map of gastro discovery. Restaurants, hotels, bars, cocktail bars, cafes, nightlife venues… the intention is that Foodie Black Week will encourage people to discover new places, boost local restaurants and generate a positive economic impact on the sector.
450 restaurants: Michelin stars, cocktail bars, waterfront restaurants, hotels…
Among the restaurants that have already confirmed their participation in this edition of the Foodie Black Week are names as varied as Assalto Bar de Vins, a temple for lovers of natural wine; the Michelin star L’Antic Molí (no, sorry: Luerna Restaurant, also with Michelin star in Santa Coloma), or haute cuisine proposals such as Nectari, recognized for its creative Mediterranean cuisine.
The route will also pass through spaces with a lot of character such as L’Anxova Divina, the new restaurant of the SLS Hotel; renovated classics such as Casa Güell; modern concepts such as Simultáneo, in the square of the same name; or the bets of groups such as Ascent (Eboca Restaurants) and Contempo Gastrobar, which are added with special menus designed to bring their cuisine to new audiences. A sample of the gastronomic diversity that makes Barcelona great and that turns the Foodie Black Week into a first class showcase.
In its last edition in Barcelona, more than 450 restaurants participated , menus were served to more than 200,000 diners and the economic impact was close to 6 million euros. For this 2025 it is expected to exceed these figures.
Mexico, guest country
This year the guest country is Mexico, with a very special participation of the states of Puebla and Jalisco. There will be thematic activities, Mexican restaurants joining the initiative and even a political and business delegation at the Mexican Consulate in Barcelona. In parallel, there will be cultural and gastronomic events that will turn the city into a bridge between Catalan and Mexican cuisine.
In addition, the image of this edition will be the Catalan chef and communicator Arnau París, winner of MasterChef and one of the most charismatic chefs on the current scene, who will support the initiative as a sponsor.
Participation open to restaurants
Although the list of participants is already available on the website, participation is still open to new restaurants that want to join the initiative.
Participation for establishments is free and registration is already open on the official website (foodieblackweek.com/barcelona/professionals). Each establishment designs its own offer without limitations and, in addition to visibility, restaurateurs have access to discounts and exclusive benefits from sponsoring brands such as wineries, distributors and food companies.
The Foodie Black Week has the support of the Barcelona City Council, the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Chamber of Commerce, the Gremi de Restauració and entities such as Barcelona Comerç or Barcelona Oberta, as well as brands such as Makro, DO Penedès, Tequila Patrón, Martini or Candlelight.
