From 2021 Catalans will travel a little lighter on their roads thanks to the lifting of tolls of the AP-2 (Aragón-El Vendrell section), AP-7 (between La Jonquera-Salou and Montmeló-El Papiol), C-32 (Barcelona-Lloret de Mar section) and C-33 (Barcelona-Montmeló) highways, which ended the concession that year, leaving the highways free of charges and making travel between important cities such as Barcelona, Girona and Tarragona much cheaper.
Now, two new tolls will also become free of charge, but with conditions. These are the tolls on the C-16 and C-32, which from November 4 will lift their barriers, albeit only under certain conditions.
what changes now?
From November 4, tolls on the C-16 and C-32 will be free of charge, but only on routes of compulsory mobility, i.e. there will be specific reasons (such as work-related reasons) that will allow free tolls, although full details have not yet been specified .
- C-16: The ride will be free on round trips made within a 24-hour period, but only Monday through Friday. During weekends and holidays, tolls must continue to be paid as before.
- C-32: This section will become a completely free route indefinitely between the Cubelles trunk and lateral barriers and the Calafell access.
- Other discounts: In addition, a discount of 40.47% will be applied from Monday to Friday (excluding holidays) on the Manresa-Terrassa section for journeys during rush hour (from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. and from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.), for all categories within the fare and with dynamic payment. These discounts are in addition to the free access to the Manresa ring road to the side barrier to the north, through any means of dynamic payment, as long as the driver has previously registered the vehicle
how to pass through the toll booth for free?
To take advantage of the free service, all drivers will have to pre-register from the beginning of October on Autema’s website and use a dynamic payment system, such as Via-T and the free Satelise or Awai applications. These systems will make it possible to detect registered cars and apply free of charge. Motorcycle drivers will be able to benefit from free tolls a few days later, starting November 16.
