The general strike in solidarity with the Palestinian people has been taking off, and it is expected that this October 15 there will be a good follow up, so it is necessary to know what are the minimum services of transport and other services for the day.
The Department of Labor of the Generalitat has made public the minimum services for the general strike on Tuesday, October 15.
The day will affect several sectors (education, health and public transport) and will include 24-hour stoppages called by the CGT, IAC, Intersindical-CSC and COS unions, while CCOO and UGT have called partial two-hour stoppages (from 10 am to 12 pm, from 2 pm to 4 pm and from 5 pm to 7 pm).
Public transport
During the strike, 66% of the service will be maintained in the main means of transport:
- Rodalies and Regionals de Catalunya
- Barcelona Metro
- TMB buses
- Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC)
- TRAM
- All other urban and interurban transport.
Each operator will be able to distribute trains and vehicles throughout the day, so we will have to wait for their communications to know which time slots will be more covered.
The usual service for people with disabilities and school transport to schools with no alternative public transport will also be maintained.
Schools and educational centers
Public and private non-university centers, as well as kindergartens, will have a person from the management team (direction, head of studies, secretariat or pedagogical coordination). In addition:
- Infant and primary (3-12 years): two teachers for every four classrooms.
- Secondary (12-16 years): one teacher for every three classrooms.
- Special education and kindergartens: 50% of the staff.
Health and hospitals
Emergency services will operate normally, as will intensive care units, neonatology, dialysis, childbirth and urgent chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatments. Surgical activity that cannot be postponed and basic care for hospitalized patients will also be guaranteed.
In out-of-hospital care centers (such as CUAP, PAC or PADES), emergency services will be provided with 25% of the usual staff.
Picket and demonstration
Throughout the day several demonstrations have been called in support of the Palestinian cause and against genocide.
At 7 a.m. there will be a rally at the Ciutat de Justícia. At 11 a.m. a central picket at Plça Universitària.
Finally, at 18h. a unitary demonstration is called at Sants Station.
