This Sunday, January 25, 2026, the city of Valls will host the 44th edition of the Gran Festa de la Calçotada, the largest event of its kind in Catalonia, which will kick off the 2026 calçots season.
After selling out the tasting tickets online, the organizers will be selling new menus for €15 at the Valls Town Hall, the Institut d’Estudis Vallencs, and the Plaça del Pati starting at 10 a.m. on Sunday, January 25.

Each ticket will include a meal at the Societat Agrícola until 2:30 p.m. with 12 calçots with Protected Geographical Indication (PGI), sauce, wine, bread, dessert, and water. In addition, a cloth bib and a 2-for-1 discount for admission to the Casteller Museum of Catalonia will be provided.
There will also be a tasting area with tables and grills for cooking local meat and sausage.

The Plaça del Blat will be the center of activity from early in the morning with the preparation of sauce. You can check out the full program here.
At the same time, the car park on Carrer de Sant Antoni will host demonstrations of grilling calçots and the sale of fresh produce. Then, from 1 p.m. onwards, the Calçots Eating Contest will begin in Plaça del Pati.
The local castellers groups, Colla Joves and Colla Vella dels Xiquets de Valls, will build human towers before the gastronomic competition. The awards ceremony for the best growers, sauce makers, and innovators will take place at 2 pm.
In addition, there will be live music by Miquel del Roig and El Artriste throughout the afternoon, as well as stalls selling local products and wine tasting areas for DO Tarragona wines in Plaça del Pati.
This festival is one of the most popular gastronomic events in Catalonia and marks the official start of the calçots season.
