The Teatre Grec space will exclusively offer shows from the Barcelona and Catalan scene, with artists and companies strongly linked to the festivals of recent years: Sílvia Pérez Cruz, La Veronal, La Brutal, Dagoll Dagom or Baró d’Evel, among others.
On the other hand, the festival will also count with the participation of renowned personalities in the international theater scene such as Angélica Liddell, Lola Arias, Christiane Jatahy, Nat Randall, Anna Brackon, Jan Lauwers or Krzysztof Warlikowski.
The Grec poster
Created by artist Silvia Delagneau, the image of this year’s festival reclaims the essence of the performing arts. The Teatre Grec is, for the first time, the protagonist of the poster, with photographs by Sílvia Poch in which you can see a bonfire in the middle of the stage. A fire that invites you to sit around it to share stories, to celebrate friendship, to weave alliances or to build community. The graphic and audiovisual accompaniment of the proposal

What we will see at the Grec 2024
This 2024 the Grec Festival will celebrate its 48th edition and, after its long trajectory, the Program will be the Reflection of a “journey into the interior”. This edition will put an end to the period of Cesc Casadesús as director and, through this journey into the interior, it is intended to delve into the essence of the festival, of the performing arts, of Barcelona’s talent.
As every year, the epicenter of the festival will be Montjuïc, but the cultural offer will extend to 3o spaces in Barcelona. The Program, with a strong presence of international theater directors, will extend over six weeks and will be a clear reflection of one of the main objectives of the festival: to merge the international scene with theater, dance and circus that are developed in our territory.
The main names, artists and companies of this year’s edition
This year, the Grec brings to Barcelona great names of the international theater scene as Angélica Liddell, Lola Arias, Christiane Jatahy, Nat Randall, Anna Brackon, Jan Lauwers or Krzysztof Warlikowski, in an extraordinary and first class program, with a clear feminine accent and in complicity with the Festival d’Avignon.
On stages throughout the rest of the city, up to 36 co-productions will be presented, including all genres and multiple Programs to support creation. From a Tirant lo Blanc directed by Joan Arqué to Tots ocells, by Wadji Mouawad, directed by Oriol Broggi; or texts by Catalan authors such as Malamort, by Daniela Feixas; or Les Mans, by Llàtzer García, among others.
Our favorite proposals
As the offer is wide, with more than 50 activities and 80 shows, from Barcelona Secreta we have made a selection of our favorites. In it we selected some shows from each of the three disciplines: theater, dance and circus.
With artists of the stature of the dancer Sol Picó or the theater company El Conde de Torrefiel, the possibilities offered by the Grec are many and very good. In short, if you want to know our highlights you can check them out here.
