The Fabra i Puig Rodalies station will remain closed indefinitely following the collapse of part of the ceiling on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 22. The collapse occurred in the concourse, above the turnstiles and ticket validation machines.
Service on the R4 line continues as normal, but trains are not stopping at this station. Adif’s technical teams are still assessing the damage in order to establish a work plan and determine a date for the station’s reopening.
Renfe and Adif recommend that passengers find alternative routes and use Metro Line L1, whose station is currently operational. To access it, passengers must use the street entrances because the internal connecting passageway between the Rodalies station and the metro station is closed.
The falling false ceiling struck three passengers—two men and one woman—who sustained minor injuries and were transported as quickly as possible to Vall d’Hebron Hospital for treatment.
The incident coincides with the start of renovation work on the station, although the director of Rodalies has sought to rule out any connection between the collapse and these construction efforts for the time being. According to Renfe, initial analyses suggest that the collapse may have been caused by the storm that occurred last Thursday, September 17, although the investigation is still ongoing.
