IrídiaFest is a festival of culture and human rights that becomes a meeting point between artistic expressions and the defense of fundamental rights. For nine years, Irídia has been working to protect people who have suffered institutional violence, and they know that culture is also an essential space to achieve a more just society.
From the incels, to the manosphere, to the rise of trumpism, etc. From Irídia, they claim a culture that seeks to confront the rise of the ultra-right in the world.
In recent years, we have seen how the culture of hate, based on fear and inequality, has spread. Therefore, from the festival they want to be part of the culture of human rights, a space of respect and encounter, through critical proposals where the word, thought and rhythm are the protagonists.
On Thursday, February 13, the festival will kick off with a special live edition of the Ciberlocutorio podcast, presented by Andrea Gumes and Anna Pacheco. The event will feature Anaïs Franquesa from Centre Irídia and Cheik Drame from SOS Racisme, as well as humorist and comic author Roger Pelàez. With seven seasons behind it, this space has established itself as a benchmark in the field of culture and reflection.
On Friday, February 14, it will be the turn of the concerts, with a program that will bring together local, national and international artists such as Branko, one of the founders of Buraka Som Sistema.
The other groups are Ortiga, Las Bajas Pasiones and Remei de Ca la Fresca, who have abandoned more pop sounds of the artists of their generation and who manage, like the rest, to create a critical and conscious musical culture.
The festival is created and developed with the collaboration of cooperative cultural projects. It is organized by Irídia – Centre per la Defensa dels Drets Humans, with the support of Say it Loud and the collaboration of Sala Paral-lel 62.
