Summer is full of those “little pleasures” that make it more than just another season—it’s that time of year when taking time for yourself and enjoying life is almost a must. A quick getaway, reading a good book with the sea breeze, savoring a watermelon or a seasonal cantaloupe… plans and little treats we never tire of repeating year after year, and that give meaning to our vacations.
Among all these pleasures, there’s one that helps us release more endorphins than almost any other—and one that, unfortunately, we don’t experience as often as we’d like: sliding down a water slide. It’s an activity that’s as simple as it is fun, but for most of us, it seems out of reach due to the distance to water parks or the high cost of admission.
Fortunately, just over 20 minutes from Barcelona, we have one of the largest swimming pools in Europe—complete with water slides —and admission for less than 10 euros per person: La Bassa de Sabadell.
Over 100 meters in diameter, 6,800 square meters, and an inner island 23 meters across connected by a 95-meter-long bridge. And taking center stage are two 60-meter-long slides and two smaller ones for children.
In addition, beyond the swimming area, the resort features a garden spanning more than 20,000 square meters with sunbathing areas and covered spaces where you can have a picnic with food from outside or enjoy the pool bar. The little ones can also have fun playing in the playground, which has swings, play structures, and ping-pong tables.
To make visitors’ stays more comfortable, the venue features a coat check area and is fully accessible for people with limited mobility.
La Bassa Hours and Prices
One of the biggest draws of this municipal pool is its price, which is very low compared to other aquatic facilities of this kind. The admission fee for adults ages 16 to 64 is 6.30 euros on weekdays and 7.90 euros on weekends and holidays.
Children ages 4 to 15 pay a reduced rate of 3.70 from Monday through Friday and 4.70 on weekends and holidays. The pool will remain open through August 31 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., so you can spend the whole day enjoying yourself.
A recreational attraction that last year drew some 165,000 visitors from Sabadell and many other parts of Catalonia. It’s located at Can Quadres, 183, and from Barcelona, it’s very easy to reach by public transportation (via the Rodalies R4) or by car (via the C-58).
