Barcelona breathes the legacy of Antoni Gaudí on every corner, but this week the city will have the opportunity to hear his voice in a completely new way. Next Thursday, June 25, an interactive 3D avatar of the brilliant architect will be set up in front of Casa Batlló to chat with anyone who approaches, recreating his life-size figure right in the middle of the street.
The project, developed by the firm Euvatar, will be available completely free of charge between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. This initiative seeks to pay tribute to the master from Reus on the exact day of his birth, offering a space for open dialogue where the public can ask him questions directly in any language in the world.
A technological encounter with a human soul
The project moves away from conventional artificial intelligence systems to offer a much more authentic, personal, and human experience. Through a hyper-realistic vertical screen, pedestrians will be able to look the architect’s recreation in the eye and receive immediate responses in real time. The technology breaks down language barriers, allowing people from any background to chat with the avatar in their own native language.
The choice of date is part of a larger celebration, as 2026 marks the Year of Gaudí throughout Catalonia, filling the calendar with dozens of cultural activities accessible to all citizens.
This interactive experience on Passeig de Gràcia is part of a year filled with significant events dedicated to the genius, including the visit by Pope Leo XVI to bless the Tower of Jesus at the Sagrada Família, as well as themed fairs and drone shows that will continue to be held throughout the region.
