Barcelona is getting ready for its most awaited date with the Christmas lights. If there is one event that has managed to burn itself into the city’s Christmas calendar in record time, it is Els Llums de Sant Pau. And yes, for yet another year, the majestic Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site will once again be transformed into a universe of fantasy, consolidating its status as the light show par excellence.
The fifth edition of this great plan begins its journey on November 20, 2025 and will run until January 11, 2026, under the slogan “We turn on the light of your Christmas”. It’s time to plan that perfect evening, either with family, as a couple or with friends. And if previous editions have already attracted more than 800,000 visitors, this five-year event promises to up the ante by combining the architectural beauty of Modernism with cutting-edge technology.
A tradition that is surpassed

Els Llums de Sant Pau is not just a catwalk of beautiful lights; it is, in fact, the only Spanish representative of the acclaimed Christmas Garden that triumphs in Europe, which already gives it an international pedigree that the city knows how to value.
This year, the immersive tour features no less than 18 interactive installations over 1,500 meters, designed to make the visitor feel like the protagonist. The event has set out to turn light from a mere decoration into a tool that tells stories, many of them, according to some media reports, with a nod to the former hospital use of the site, always with a happy ending.
New products that shine with their own light

To celebrate its fifth anniversary, the organization has pulled out all the stops with a trio of additions that will make it worth repeating. The sweetest for the little ones (and for those who are not so little) is the expansion of the King Balthazar’s Royal Camp, a special themed area where you can hand in your letter to the Wise Man. An important note for those who plan ahead: although the activity is free if booked before November 5, after that date it will have a symbolic cost of 1.5 €.
But the magic doesn’t stop there. Local talent is the architect of Somni Borealis, an artistic installation that promises to evoke the luminous landscapes of the north, bringing the northern lights to the heart of Barcelona. In addition, the more playful will be able to follow the trail of Llumi, the guiding star of the tour, through the interactive challenge known as the Llumienigma, which will invite us to decipher a secret Christmas message.
The light show is strongly committed to technological immersion. This year, an installation with augmented reality technology will make its debut, offering an extra layer of fantasy to the visit. In addition, the outdoor mapping will be interactive and will be synchronized with a soundtrack that attendees will be able to activate from their own cell phone using a QR code, ensuring a unique and personalized audiovisual experience.
And as Christmas is also synonymous with giving, the fifth edition maintains its social commitment by collaborating one more year with the Villavecchia Foundation for children’s oncology, giving this luminous experience a much-needed solidarity background.
How long does the visit to LLums de Sant Pau last, how much does it cost?
The estimated duration of the tour is between 60 and 90 minutes, a perfect time to enjoy without hurry.
