LUMINISCENCE is a true tribute to the history and architecture of the basilicas and cathedrals it visits and a very enjoyable way to learn about art and culture. Its blend of video mapping and music highlights every architectural detail of these beautiful temples.
In Barcelona, LUMINISCENCE pays tribute to the Basilica of Santa Maria del Pi, a jewel of 14th-century Catalan Gothic architecture that has survived fires, wars, and bombings. Every interplay of light, color, and perspective offers an opportunity to (re)discover every vault, pillar, and stained-glass window of the church and immerse yourself in its centuries of history.
This sensory experience is enhanced by music—beautiful instrumental melodies that blend classical pieces with modern touches. Additionally, during performances from Thursday through Sunday, the experience features a performance by Cor Francesc Valls, a professional choir founded in 2003 that will add a layer of spectacle and emotion to LUMINISCENCE. The basilica’s excellent acoustics will amplify this sonic communion even further.
This perfect blend of music and 360-degree projections is complemented by a narration (in English, Catalan, or Spanish depending on the session) that tells the story of the Basilica of Santa Maria del Pi.
