The Sagrada Família usually celebrates Sant Jordi with everything. For years it has been inviting all the Jordis and Jordinas of the city to enter the temple for free during the Diada, and this year adds a new activity: Llum primigènia, an audiovisual installation that invites you to rediscover the legend of Sant Jordi.
Like the mappings that have already been made in the temple on other occasions , “Llum primigènia” is an audiovisual installation that invites visitors to immerse themselves in the legend of the patron saint of Catalonia through a sensory journey through the interior of the temple.
The piece combines light, music and architecture to create an immersive experience that connects the symbolism of Sant Jordi’s struggle with the concept of Urlicht (“primordial light”) by the composer Gustav Mahler. The result is a poetic dialogue between the mythical tale and an inner journey into the hero’s inner being.
The sculpture of Sant Jordi, the work of Josep Maria Subirachs and located on the façade of the Passion, is the central axis of this installation. The experience takes the form of a prelude, seven scenes and a special interlude dedicated to the millennium of Montserrat and the Catalan flag, reinforcing the cultural and spiritual link of the proposal.
The show can be seen from April 22 to 28 at the basilica with the entrance to the site.
