The mural of Alexia Putellas that the artist Dase painted in his hometown is now a candidate for best mural in the world. Located in Mollet del Vallés, place of origin of the FC Barcelona footballer and double Ballon d’Or, it is 30 minutes away from Barcelona.
This 104m2 work has been hand-painted by this local artist specialized in large-scale murals of well-known sports figures. True to his philosophy, the work has been done with water-based paint and without toxic solvents, like all of Dase’s, which guarantees a low ecological impact without sacrificing visual power.
This project arises from a collaboration between the artist, Pepsi and the City Council of Mollet.
Alexia Putellas’s mural in Mollet
The mural conveys an idea, Alexia Putellas as a symbol of effort, overcoming and pride for Mollet. The mural is located on the facade of a building between Avenida Burgos and Carrer de la Plana, one of the main roads in and out of the municipality.
In addition to the image of the soccer player, the background of the mural is dominated by blue, black and white tones, chosen to connect with the visual image of the Pepsi brand.
Like Alexia’s, there are other murals around the world that also focus on women’s soccer, with representations of Lauren James (England), Caroline Graham Hansen (Norway) and Farah Jeffrey (Saudi Arabia).
This July, the Women’s Euro 2025 will take place in Switzerland, where Alexia Putellas will compete for Spain.
