If you’re from Barcelona, you’ve surely been up to Las Golondrinas. It’s one of those classics that either your parents took you when you were a kid, or you’ve used it as a tour guide with a friend from out of town. But get ready, because this year you will want to repeat.
The news is one of those that make history in the city: for the first time in its 137 years of life, the mythical Golondrinas del Port de Barcelona will offer a night tour. And the occasion, of course, deserved it: Christmas.
This initiative is the great novelty (and the star attraction ) of the ‘Nadal al Port’, the Christmas fair at the Moll de la Fusta that returns from November 28.
A Christmas stroll on the high seas (or almost)
This is not going to be the usual walk with the sun hitting you in the face. The boat chosen has a capacity for 196 passengers and will be decorated to the last detail with garlands, Christmas music and a display of lights for the occasion.
But the highlight is that the trip, which will last about 40 minutes, will not only be contemplative. The organization has confirmed that there will be actors on board who will liven up the route by singing and performing short theatrical performances. A sort of floating “Christmas Carol” while you see the city from the sea.
And the views are promising. The route will allow you to contemplate the entire illuminated Port Vell, with the unique perspective of the light show of the Tower of Jaume I, which will once again become the most iconic Christmas tree (metal) of the port.
The ‘Nadal al Port’ is passed the game
This novelty is part of the seventh edition of ‘Nadal al Port’, which this year (from November 28 to January 6) is bigger than ever. The fair will not only feature the giant Ferris wheel and ice rink, but will have a grand opening on the 28th in charge of the Circ Històric Raluy.
The Golondrinas nocturnas (Night Swallows) will be added to a maritime offer that is already a symbol of Christmas in Barcelona, competing for the best photo with the Pailebot Santa Eulàlia and the big star of light of the Portal de la Pau.
