
Barcelona will celebrate next Saturday, May 17, a new edition of La Nit dels Museus 2025, the annual cultural event that will open the doors of 95 museums and cultural spaces for free between 19:00 and 01:00 hours.
This event will coincide with the weekend of International Museum Day (May 18), and this year 2025 will register one of its editions with the largest number of participating spaces. In addition to Barcelona will extend throughout the metropolitan area as Badalona, Cornellà, Esplugues, L’Hospitalet, Sant Adrià, Santa Coloma and Sant Joan Despí.
Among the novelties this year there will be several additions that will participate for the first time in La Noche de los Museos: Casa Batlló, Casa de la Barceloneta 1791, Espai Moja – Catalunya: Patrimoni Viu, Fundació Úniques, Hospital de St Saver, Museu de Ciències Naturals de Barcelona-L’Hivernacle and the Museu de Matemàtiques de Catalunya (MMACA).
Also returning will be spaces that did not participate in 2024, such as the Museu de les Aigües, Palau Mercader, Museu d’Història de la Immigració de Catalunya (MhiC) and KBr Fundación MAPFRE.

Program: more than 90 free activities
In addition to free access, visitors can enjoy up to 94 extraordinary activities, many of them with several sessions, including guided tours, concerts, workshops, screenings, performances, dance and theater shows.
Some of the most outstanding proposals are:
- At the MEAM – Museu Europeu d’Art Modern, there will be a live painting session with natural model.
- At the Santa Mònica center, there will be performances by Gremi d’Espais 24-25 and La Juan Gallery, as well as two art installations.
- The Museu de la Música will activate the sound installation “Esquellòrium” by artist Núria Andorrà.
- The Museu Marítim de Barcelona will offer a video mapping show on the Drassanes Reials and the Galera Reial.
- The MACBA will present “Voz Mal”, a recent work by artist Jaume Ferrete.
- At Castell de Montjuïc, spaces usually closed to the public will be opened.
- At La Model, the stage piece “Rojos”, centered on the post-war period of the Civil War, will be performed.
- The MhiC will screen the film “El 47”, accompanied by a dramatized presentation.
- At the Centre Jujol-Can Negre, there will be workshops on the figure of the architect Jujol.
- The Fundació Foto Colectania will offer an olfactory experience inspired by analog photographic laboratories.
- At La Virreina, three films by Afro-Cuban filmmaker Sara Gómez will be screened in parallel to the first exhibition dedicated to her work.
- The Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC) will program concerts by emerging artists in its Sala Oval.
- In the Capella de Santa Àgata, an “a cappella” concert of sacred music will be given by Muom.
- The Born – Centre de Cultura i Memòria will host the experimental electronic pop show “La salamandra”, by the duo L’arannà.
Permanent and temporary exhibitions
The Night of the Museums will also be an opportunity to visit both the permanent collections and temporary exhibitions of numerous centers, many of them with commented, dramatized or guided visits, although it will also be possible to tour them freely.
Among the outstanding exhibitions are:
- “The Room of Words” at the Arxiu Històric de la Ciutat de Barcelona, which reflects on the link between exhibition and archive.
- “La romería de los cornudos” and “La Pantalla Mutante” at the Centre d’Art La Capella.
- “Plàstic. Genial o pervers?” at the Museu Terra – Sala Barcelona, which invites to reflect on the use of plastic.
- “Manel Esclusa. The forms that move existence” at the Arxiu Fotogràfic de Barcelona.
- “Uncertain times. Germany between wars”, at CaixaForum Barcelona, focused on the Weimar Republic.
- At the CCCB, the exhibition “Amazonías. The Ancestral Future” explores the natural and cultural wealth of the Amazon region.
- At the Centre d’Art Tecla Sala, “Paraules d’amor. An essay on passions”, by Núria Güell, reflects on passionate love.
- “Sumari Astral” at the Fundació Joan Brossa, guided by its curators and artists, explores magic in contemporary art.
- At the Museu Etnològic i de Cultures del Món – Seu Montjuïc, the exhibition “Barcelona, giant city. 600 years of celebration and tradition” traces the history of the festive giants.
- At the Montcada branch of the same museum, “Maya Deren. A cadence of images” pays tribute to this key figure of 20th century experimental cinema.
Entrance to the museums and participation in all the programmed activities will be completely free of charge, and in most cases no prior registration will be required.
From April 28, the official website of the event will offer detailed information on the participating spaces, schedules and booking links in cases where advance registration is required.
