Do you remember when 200,000 € seemed like a world? Today, that figure is barely a whisper in the real estate market in Catalonia. From the rooftops of Barcelona to the quietest corners of Tàrrega, the disparity in access to housing is a reflection of the chaos that thousands of people live in.
The image of an urban landscape with terracotta roofs and antennas reminds us of the density of our cities. In this scenario, a list prepared by Barcelona Secreta based on data from Idealista.com reveals the amount of square meters that you can buy with 200,000 € in 12 different cities of Catalonia.
What apartment can you afford for 200,000 € in 2025?
Let’s start with Barcelona, where €200,000 is barely enough for 40m2. Space is selling at a premium, as 10 years ago you could get twice as much for almost the same price.
Meanwhile, in Vielha, with the same budget, you could buy 57m2. In Palamós, where for that amount you could get 72m2. Things get better in L’Hospitalet and Girona, with 76m2 and 80m2 respectively. If you go to Badalona or Salou, the figure rises to 86m2 and 84m2. But it is still a rather small space if we think of families or someone who needs a home office.
But wait, the surprise doesn’t end here. If we look at less popular cities, we find that in Tarragona you can get 95m2 and in Figueres up to 140m2. A number that almost seems unreal when compared to the Catalan capital. And, in case you were wondering, Lleida and Amposta are not far behind with 150m2 and 197m2.
The maximum of meters that you can afford is in Tàrrega, where you could acquire 238m2.
To obtain this data we have divided the amount of 200,000 € by the average price perm2 of apartments for sale in each town, based on data from Idealista.com in May 2025.
