Have you ever dreamed of eating in a Catalan farmhouse embedded in a giant rock? If you like the idea, you’ll love El Puig de la Balma.
Imagine a place where food not only fills the stomach, but also the spirit. A place where every dish is a celebration of Catalan culinary tradition, and every bite connects you to the rich history and bounty of the land.
What is so special about El Puig de la Balma?
Located in Mura, in the province of Barcelona, El Puig de la Balma is more than a restaurant. It is a farmhouse that has gone through 26 generations and that, for 32 years, has been offering a meal service with a complete menu at a fixed price. But beyond this, it is a surprising place, with a rustic and authentic charm that stole our hearts.
It is a 12th century farmhouse and is literally embedded in the rock as seen in the video. Even Goya award winning films like “Pa Negre” were filmed there.
The menu starts with a few starters to whet the appetite. A plate of chickpeas with white sausage and another of beans with grilled black sausage. This is one of the best there is. But that’s not all, then comes the lamb, the grilled meat and the rabbit.
To finish, a little sweet wine and carquinyolis to help the meal go down. And best of all, dessert is also included in the 28 euros that the menu costs (December 2024).
