On the occasion of the Centenary of the Barcelona Metro, TMB opens for the first time to the public two of its most secret and professional spaces: the Metro Control Center (CCM) and the driving simulator room.
This is a unique opportunity to see from the inside the nerve center that manages the 165 trains in circulation during rush hour, or to sit in a real simulator cabin as if you were a driver for a day.
We tell you all the details so that you can register in time and do not miss the opportunity to see how the inner workings of the city’s subway work.
The “brain” of the subway, uncovered

The Metro Control Center (CCM), located in La Sagrera, is a 24/7 operational space that oversees the smooth operation of 126 km of network, 9 lines, 165 stations and more than 1.5 million passengers a day. Everything is controlled from here: train circulation, energy, security, emergencies and public address system.
During the guided tours (25 minutes, in groups of 16 people), you can access this space normally restricted to technical staff and see in action the place where the daily pulse of the Barcelona subway is taken.
When will the visits take place?
On July 19, 20, 26 and 27 from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm.
Metro driving simulators under Plaça Catalunya
The visits will be on the weekends of July 19-20 and 26-27, and registration opens tomorrow, Wednesday July 16 at 10 am at www.obrimelmetro.cat.
The other facility that will open its doors is the simulator room, inaugurated in 2024 just below Plaça Catalunya. There, drivers of the 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000, 7000 and 8000 series metro trains are trained with real cabins. Now, for the first time, the public will be able to see how these professionals are trained and even try out some of the simulators available.
When will the visits take place?
July 26th and 27th from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm.
How to get a ticket?
A total of 768 seats have been made available (576 for the MCC and 192 for the simulator room). Reservations will be activated on July 16 at 10 a.m. at www.obrimelmetro.cat and will be available until all seats are sold out.
Other open spaces
Throughout the autumn, TMB will repeat these open days and will add new hidden spaces to the visits, such as the Mercat Nou power substation, the Santa Eulàlia and ZAL workshops, the old ghost stations of Gaudí and Correus or the original spiral staircase of Urquinaona .
The dates of these upcoming openings will be announced in the coming weeks.
