The Barcelona City Council has started the awarding process of the Illa Acer protected development, one of the largest in the city, with a total of 234 apartments located in the Marina del Prat Vermell neighborhood, in the Sants-Montjuïc district.
The Illa Acer development will become the new home of nearly 600 people. Of the 234 apartments, 172 will be awarded on an affordable rental basis and 62 under the surface right model, a formula that guarantees that the land will always remain in public ownership. In addition, 12 of the apartments will be adapted for people with reduced mobility.
The Registry of Housing Applicants is the first step to be completed by those who wish to access affordable rental or semi-ownership housing, also known as “right of superficies”.
To inform citizens about the system of access to this housing, the consistory has organized an information session this Tuesday, May 6 at the headquarters of the district of Sants-Montjuïc (Creu Coberta street, 104), at 18 hours.
In it, the Municipal Housing Institute of Barcelona (IMHAB) will explain the criteria and requirements for registration in the Register of Applicants for Subsidized Housing, as well as the characteristics and methods of allocation of properties.
The building, located at 10 Acer Street, has been designed by the architectural firm Aybar Mateos and Borrell-Jover. It will have five stairways, six commercial spaces, 77 parking spaces for cars, 54 for motorcycles and 256 for bicycles. The architectural design includes a ventilated interior corridor and courtyards that favor air circulation, energy efficiency and the quality of the living environment.
Public rentals in Barcelona have a starting price of between €400 and €500 for smaller homes. In the case of Illa Acer, the final price of each apartment has not yet been disclosed.
