Ibai Llanos has already announced the name of his team: Ronin FC. It will be the streamer’s first soccer team after his success with his own eSports and Kings League teams, such as Porcinos.
Ronin will play in the Fourth Division of Catalonia and from there hope to move up the ranks over the next few years. The website of the Catalan Football Federation has published some details of what this team will be like, where it will play or what kit it will wear.
Ronin FC’s first match in September
They have been assigned to group 25 of the Fourth Division. They are based in Sant Cugat and will play in the sports facilities of Rubí, a few kilometers away.
With a black first kit and a white second kit, the team will debut against Vallirana CF B next Sunday, September 21, 2025 at 12 noon as home. It will do so at the Camp de Fútbol Municipal de 25 de Septiembre, in Rubí. The composition of the full squad is still unknown.
This will be the usual schedule for home matches. For the time being, the matches will not be broadcast live, although Llanos has confirmed that there will be summaries available on YouTube.
With 268,000 followers on social networks, it is expected that during the 2025/2026 season Ronin FC will be the team that attracts the largest number of fans to matches in the Cuarta Catalana.
Why Ronin FC?
Ibai Llanos himself has clarified it in a video, from how the process went to the weight that the community has had in inspiring the name. “We were working with a company that specializes in creating brands, creating clubs, naming them. Many of you know that I’ve been involved with the name Porcinos for almost four years now, which in the end is a very joking name,” he explained.
“A lot of my community, I know you guys are big fans of Inazuma Eleven and Oliver and Benji. When I told you guys and proposed what you will name the team, you all gave me a lot of ideas about Oliver and Benji and Inazuma Eleven. Obviously I can’t put Oliver and Benji Football Club, but we did start from that basis to create something certainly related to these series.”
“I told the company I was working with that I wanted it to be something Asian, a bit more related to Koi (the name of their eSports team) but in the world of soccer,” and that’s where the final name Ronin FC came from, meaning “samurai without a master.”
