Gioachino Rossini was one of the great composers of his time, creator of such legendary operas as The Barber of Seville and Cinderella. But in Catalonia, his name also brings to mind another delicious masterpiece: Rossini’s cannelloni. Was it really his creation, or rather an Italian one, or did a clever Catalan chef simply give it that name? Rossini’s Gourmet Opera Night tells this story with plenty of humor, music, and a delicious (literally) epilogue. The event begins on Friday , November 7, at the Reial Cercle Artístic and continues for the following three Fridays of the month. Rossini is resurrected in Barcelona
Rossini’s Gourmet Opera Night shows us how the great Rossini, played by an actor-singer, returns from the dead for one reason: to reveal the origin of the cannelloni that bear his name. He will be accompanied by some high-profile accomplices: a soprano and a pianist. The three will be the protagonists of a 55-minute work that combines a careful selection of classical music with hilarious dialogues… And a tasty surprise as an epilogue.
Because it would be torture to spend an hour watching a play about one of the most delicious dishes in our cuisine without tasting it, right? The show will culminate with a tasting of XXL Rossini cannelloni , stuffed with meat or chicken with foie gras, truffles or mushrooms and a touch of sweet wine, topped with béchamel sauce and Parmesan cheese, as well as a glass of wine or cava of your choice. This feast will be prepared by the restaurateurs at Reial Cercle Artístic, experts in delighting us with their gastronomic delights for many years.
