Elies Rogent was the architect who trained Antoni Gaudí —of whom he once said he didn’t know if he was “a madman or a genius”—and one of the key figures in 19th-century Barcelona. Beyond the University of Barcelona, which he designed, he left the city with a much lesser-known but equally impressive work: the Conciliar Seminary of Barcelona. A neo-Gothic complex in the heart of Carrer Diputació that is now opening its doors to the epic, fantasy, and magic of Middle Earth. And it is doing so with a concert dedicated to The Lord of the Rings.
A legendary setting for the music of ‘The Lord of the Rings’
Far from being just an ecclesiastical center, the Conciliar Seminary houses treasures that few people know about: from the oldest library in Barcelona to one of the richest mineral collections in Catalonia. In addition, its Great Hall, marked by its neo-Gothic arches and carved wood, is currently being transformed into the setting for an epic experience under the light of thousands of candles.
This metamorphosis is being carried out by Candlelight, which , together with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences, has prepared a special concert to celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Fellowship of the Ring. A journey through the trilogy’s soundtrack, ranging from The Breaking of the Fellowship to Gollum’s Song and Minas Tirith.
These great hits will be performed by the Musical Sensus string quartet, who will bring to life the arrangements approved by Howard Shore himself, the Oscar-winning composer of the original soundtrack.
There will be several sessions at 5:00 p.m. , 7:00 p.m., and 9:00 p.m., depending on the day selected. You can check the available dates and purchase your tickets online starting at €19.
