After the widespread blackout that affected yesterday to Barcelona, Catalonia and much of southern Europe on Tuesday April 29, Barcelona has dawned without Rodalies. At 6:30 am, the service has been completely suspended by what the company defines as an “instability of the voltage in the power grid”.
The initial forecast, announced yesterday, was to operate with 60% of the service, but early in the morning it was announced that the restoration was paralyzed “to ensure the circulation”, as reported in a message on the X network.
No transport alternatives
At 06:50 a.m. Antonio Carmona, director of Rodalies, also appeared and confirmed that, for the moment, there is no viable alternative, not even with buses, and regretted not being able to offer a time for the restoration of the service. “The suspension has been made to prevent trains from stopping in the middle of the route and passengers being trapped inside,” he explained.
The official recommendation is to seek alternative means of transport such as the metro, streetcar or Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), which operate normally on all its lines, as reported by the company.
Rodalies and Regionales no, AVE yes
While Rodalies shows no signs of recovery, Minister Óscar Puente has reported that high-speed services are operating, with lines between Barcelona and Madrid, Valencia, Alicante, Murcia and the Basque Country operational from 6:00 am. However, the companies have already warned of possible delays and schedule changes. The Euromed service is still not operating.
For its part, from Renfe have reported that the regional train service is not guaranteed either, so it is not recommended to rely on this option to move today.
