Rail traffic between Catalonia and the Valencian Community will be completely interrupted during the morning and part of the afternoon of Thursday. The infrastructure manager, Adif, has taken this preventive measure in view of the extreme risk posed by the wind, halting all trains from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Areas at greatest risk and mobility
Although the storm will affect almost the entire Catalan territory, it will be most intense in the Pyrenees, the Pre-Pyrenees, and the southern halfof the region . In areas such as Baix Camp, Alt Camp, Tarragonès, and Baix Penedès, the most violent gusts are expected between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Rail service updates
The five-hour suspension on the Mediterranean corridor could be modified if weather conditions worsen or improve earlier than expected. At the moment, Adif is not considering cuts on other lines in the network, although it is constantly monitoring the evolution of the storm.
The authorities remind the public that the strong wind warnings will remain in effect until Friday at noon. Travelers are advised to check the status of their trains before going to the stations to avoid unnecessary crowds.
