Since last Wednesday, February 26, 2025, any unemployed person in Barcelona can apply for the new subsidized T-usual card.
This change implies the disappearance of the magnetic cardboard support, which will be replaced by the T-mobilitat plastic card. In the coming months, the virtual support for this card will also be enabled.
The price of this monthly pass is 5.50 euros and covers the 6 public transport zones integrated in the T-mobilitat.
One of the novelties this 2025 is the simplification of the process of obtaining the card. The beneficiaries will no longer have to go to a point of sale, as they will be able to load the T-usual card directly through the mobile application or the vending machines once their application has been validated.
To access it, interested parties must prove their situation by means of the documentation provided by the SEPE, the SOC or their respective town councils, and the credit will be valid for 30 renewable days.
How to obtain the subsidized T-usual?
The process to obtain the subsidized T-usual consists of the following steps, as detailed by ATM:
- Register in the T-mobilitat system, either in person or digitally, through the websites or applications of T-mobilitat, TMB or FGC.
- Present the documentation that accredits the unemployment situation.
- Once the documentation has been validated, the Occupation Profile, valid for 3 months, will be assigned.
- If you do not have the T-mobilitat plastic card, it will be necessary to request it.
- With the plastic card, it will be possible to charge the subsidized T-usual through the mobile application, vending machines or authorized establishments.
- Once the first bonus T-usual has been used up, the recharge can be done easily through the available channels, without the need to present the documentation again until after 3 months.
After the 3 months of validity of the Occupation Profile, the beneficiaries will have to renew it following the same steps as for the initial activation.
Other subsidized cards
In addition to the T-Usual, ATM has other subsidized cards, such as the T-Metropolitana or pink card, which is intended for people over 60 years of age, or the T-Verda, which allows free travel for 3 years on public transport for those who dispose of a car without a DGT sticker.
