Barcelona bids farewell to one of the few transport tickets that still remained in cardboard. The T-4 card, intended for the over-60s and people with reduced mobility, begins its definitive transition to the plastic format.
As reported by the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (AMB), the last day to purchase this ticket in its traditional cardboard support will be October 28th.
After that date, the T-4 will no longer be available at the metro network’s vending machines or at the usual points of sale. However, users who still have unused cardboard tickets will be able to validate them on public transport until December 31, 2025.
How to order the T-metropolitana Tarjeta rosa reducida (reduced pink card)

This change involves the full integration of the T-4 into the new T-metropolitana system, a plastic holder with contactless technology similar to the T-mobilitat for seniors.
Specifically, the T-4 will become a digital fare card that can only be loaded on the T-metropolitana Tarjeta rosa reducida.
T-4 users can already anticipate the change and request their new card. They can do so by calling 900 700 077, or through the AMB website, and start the procedure to obtain the T-metropolitana Tarjeta rosa, which will be granted in its free or reduced mode depending on the applicant’s income.
Once the reduced T-metropolitan Pink Card has been obtained, users will be able to load and recharge T-4 fare options at ticket vending machines in the metro network and at authorized points of sale.
