Tucked away on the top floor of the Arenas Shopping Center (in front of Plaça Espanya) we find one of the most unique spaces in Barcelona: IKONO. This experience, which has more than 10 rooms, is a place where art and entertainment merge and where the visitor, more than a spectator, is part of the artistic work. Looking for a plan to have fun with family or friends this Christmas season? IKONO will be open throughout the Christmas season and tickets for this festive period are already on sale.

IKONO, which made its debut in Madrid in 2020, also has spaces in the cities of Vienna, Copenhagen, Berlin and Budapest. Although they share the same philosophy and have some similar rooms, no two IKONOs are alike and each experience is unique. In addition, the one in Barcelona has exclusive rooms.
Art and inspiration in more than 10 totally immersive rooms.
As soon as you enter IKONO Barcelona there is a ball pool where adults are more than invited, Purple Metal. This is already a declaration of intent: here, as a visitor, you come to give your all, to be part of the experience, to not stop playing. And what follows is along these lines: more immersive rooms full of fully interactive art.
For example, Darklight Street, a “street” that is pure futuristic aesthetic, with metal, synthetic fibers and neon lights that remind us of science fiction classics like Blade Runner. And just this street leads us to different rooms that are like independent universes with something in common : you can also be art or do it.
The Koi Lounge is a room with patterned walls that invites us to disappear into them and in Lantern Sanctuary we will be seduced by the atmosphere created by hundreds of lanterns suspended in the air, in the purest style of the Lantern Festival in Thailand (not in vain, the idea of creating IKONO arises after a trip to Asia).
Special mention should be made of Light Painting, which pays homage to a historic collaboration: in the late 1940s, Pablo Picasso teamed up with photographer Gjon Mili in the south of France and together they explored the seemingly magical art of drawing in the air. As if we were the genius from Malaga, in IKONO we can emulate this technique and even take the memory home with us.
As we said, all the IKONO are unique, and in the case of the space in Barcelona has exclusive rooms in this city. One is the aforementioned Lantern Sanctuary. The others are Cyberpunk (the name says it all) or Retro Arcade, a golden brooch that appeals to our nineties nostalgia (with the difference that here you can play to infinity without dropping any coins).
Although its creators do not like to define IKONO as a museum, there is a lot of art in this space. Each room has been developed by a different artist and, in the case of Barcelona, we can mention the names of Caroline Wendelin, Kimerly Leahey, Inshita Banerjee or Heather Bellino.
Do you want to know the rest of the immersive rooms at IKONO? We don’t want to reveal any more surprises: go up to the third floor of Arenas and let yourself be surprised by everything it has to offer.
