The end of summer always brings special skies in Barcelona: intense sunsets, cooler nights and that feeling that time runs differently. This Sunday, in addition, there will be an extra reason to look up and be surprised.
On September 7, the city will experience a total lunar eclipse, a rare phenomenon in which the Earth comes between the sun and the satellite. We explain at what time and how to see it.
At what time the total lunar eclipse can be seen in Barcelona
The moon will rise above the horizon already eclipsed at 20:12 h, dyed a deep red that many know as the blood moon. Little by little, the shadow will disappear until it regains its full light at 9:56 pm.
To enjoy it in all its splendor, just look for a corner open to the east: from the sand of Barceloneta to the heights of Collserola. You won’t need a telescope or special glasses; just patience, good company and the desire to experience one of those nights that turn the sky into an unrepeatable spectacle.
We leave you here a list of some of the best viewpoints in Barcelona and nearby to see this kind of phenomena.
