This Thursday, Barcelona will celebrate that there are exactly 100 days left until the Grand Départ of the 2026 Tour de France, the start of the world’s most prestigious cycling race from the Catalan capital.
To commemorate this, the city has organized a festive day open to everyone and a visually striking event that will transform Barcelona’s skyline into a sea of yellow.
The epicenter of the celebration will be Passeig Lluís Companys, which starting at 5:00 p.m. will host the Festa dels 100 dies with bicycle-related activities aimed at families.
At 7:30 p.m., the official ceremony will begin, hosted by Judit Mascó and Jordi Basté, featuring a performance by the Musicals’ Choir and a tribute to the city’s cycling clubs.
The group Doctor Prats will give a concert featuring the premiere of the official song for the start of the 2026 Tour de France: Energia!
At that very moment, the countdown will begin, and dozens of spaces and buildings throughout the city will be illuminated in yellow.
Starting at 8:00 p.m., more than 70 buildings, monuments, fountains, and iconic landmarks in Barcelona will be illuminated in yellow simultaneously. Among the highlights are the façade of Barcelona City Hall, the Arc de Triomf, Casa Batlló, the Palau Sant Jordi, the Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau, and La Pedrera.
The private sector has also joined in the celebration, with establishments and hotels such as Casa Seat, El Corte Inglés at Maria Cristina, and the Grand Hyatt Barcelona lighting up their facades for the occasion.
